Yefremov: Parliament unable to work in its current composition, its future could be decided at referendum
The leader of the Party of Regions faction in parliament, Oleksandr Yefremov, has said that the Verkhovna Rada is unable to work in its current composition and that the country needs MPs elected in single-seat constituencies.
"The [Verkhovna] Rada is unable to work in its current composition. Some deputies are looking for any excuse to block the work of parliament, despite the agreement. And, perhaps, we shouldn't elect hooligans on party lists who are running here in the hall, but, perhaps, we should elect MPs in single-mandate constituencies who would be directly accountable to their voters," he said at a briefing in parliament on Tuesday.
Yefremov also noted that the future of the parliament could be decided at a referendum.
"The previous parliament was probably right when it made the decision on referendums, and this issue could be raised by directly appealing to the people through a referendum," he said.
