Yanukovych insists on speeding up reform of defense industry

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has insisted there is a need to speed up the reform of the country's defense industry.

"It is necessary to take urgent steps to speed up the process of reforming the defense industry, which should meet the new needs of the Armed Forces and the situation on the world market," Yanukovych said at a meeting of the National Security and Defense of Ukraine in Kyiv on Friday.

The president noted the need to review the strategic priorities of the defense industry development, update strategic and policy documents in this area, and ensure the effective management of the industry.

Yanukovych also said they needed to establish an efficient system of implementation of the country's policy in this field.
