About 5,000 servicemen help to liquidate consequences of heavy snowfall in Ukraine
From March 15, 4,800 servicemen and over 270 units of equipment have been involved in work to clear snow in 10 Ukrainian regions and Kyiv, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihor Kabanenko has reported.
"Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, along with subdivisions of the State Service for Emergency Situations, will continue to efficiently liquidate the consequences of the bad weather: clean roads, free cars of snow coverage, and restore transport communications between residential areas," the press service of the Defense Ministry quoted Kabanenko as saying on Wednesday.
He also reported that in general the soldiers removed snow from 7,200 roads, evacuated over 1,230 units of civil transport and provided nearly 1,000 people with heating and food.
