Authorities deprive Tymoshenko of defenders, violate rights of people surrounding her, says ex-premier's daughter
The authorities are depriving former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of a defense by persecuting her defender Serhiy Vlasenko, the ex-premier's daughter Yevhenia Tymoshenko said.
"They're not only depriving her of a defender, they're also violating the rights of the people surrounding her, [they're violating laws] concerning people's deputies and members of the team that are fighting for her, as well as democratic principles - the rule of law in Ukraine. The main attack is directed against them," Tymoshenko told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter after a meeting with her mother at Kharkiv-based Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 on March 4.
She added that the ex-premier is to make a statement on the situation with Vlasenko and an attempt to strip him of his parliamentary mandate on Tuesday.
