Foreign Ministry: No Ukrainians among those killed in hot air balloon crash in Egypt
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported that according to the latest reports, there were no Ukrainian citizens among the tourists killed in the crash of a hot air balloon in the Egyptian city of Luxor.
"According to preliminary data received from the Ukrainian Embassy in Egypt, there are no Ukrainian citizens among the dead," the ministry's press service told Interfax-Ukraine.
As reported, a hot air balloon carrying 20 tourists crashed in Egypt, and local media said that at least 19 tourists were killed in the crash. According to media reports, among the victims of the crash are nine residents of Hong Kong, and two Japanese, two British and two French citizens. The nationality of two other victims of the crash has not yet been determined.
According to local officials, the pilot and a tourist survived the crash.
Foreign media reported that a hot air balloon flying over Egypt's ancient city of Luxor caught fire and crashed into a sugar cane field.
