Cabinet to work on improvement of election legislation soon, says Azarov
The Ukrainian government will develop an action plan soon to streamline the country's election legislation with the recommendations of the OSCE, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"In the near future the government will approve an action plan to improve the election legislation according to the recommendations of the OSCE on the 2012 parliamentary elections in Ukraine," he said at a meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule in Kyiv on Thursday.
The parliamentary elections were held in Ukraine in October 2012.
The OSCE report on the elections reads that the election campaign in Ukraine was not transparent enough, and the elections were a step backwards compared to the previous election campaign in the country.
