Regions Party is hoping for Yanukovych's reelection as president
The Regions Party is hoping Viktor Yanukovych will be re-elected for president in 2015 and expect Oleh Tiahnybok, leader of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union, to be his opponent in the second round of the election.
"He [Yanukovych] will not be just a candidate, he will be the winner. We have no doubt that he will win in honest competition. His rival in the second round will be Oleh Tiahnybok. We know that. He is surely a strong rival," Mykhailo Chechetov, first deputy chairman of the Regions Party parliamentary faction, said in his comments to Radio Liberty published on his Web site.
In the meantime, representatives of the parliamentary opposition parties agree that it will be easier to reach agreements on one candidate, who will be Yanukovych's opponent in the second round of the 2015 presidential elections, saying they are confident this candidate will defeat Yanukovych, the Radio Liberty materials say.
