Opposition seeks dismissal of interior minister and SBU chief
The opposition factions have registered in the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on the political responsibility of Ukrainian Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko and SBU Chief Oleksandr Yakymenko "for the involvement of law enforcement agencies in political persecution and the violation of human rights and freedoms."
The authors of the bill are the head of the Batkivschyna faction in parliament, Arseniy Yatseniuk, UDAR faction leader Vitali Klitschko, and Svoboda faction leader Oleh Tiahnybok.
In addition, opposition members registered a draft resolution on hearing reports by Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka, Zakharchenko and Yakymenko on the situation at Ukrzaliznytsia's Central Clinical Hospital No. 5, where former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment, which occurred on January 18 due to the removal of people's deputies from the hospital.
The opposition proposed hearing the reports at a special meeting of parliament on January 29.
As earlier, Batkivschyna said earlier that the faction had managed able to collect the over 150 signatures needed to hold the meeting.
