Vlasenko not allowed to leave Ukraine under court ruling, says Border Guard Service
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has not allowed MP Serhiy Vlasenko, who is also a defense lawyer of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, to leave the country under a relevant ruling of Kyiv's Pechersky District Court.
"The border guards did not let this citizen [Vlasenko] to cross the state border at the checkpoint at the Boryspil Airport under the ruling of Pechersky District Court to temporary restrict him to traveling outside Ukraine," the State Border Guard Service's spokesman, Serhiy Astakhov, told Interfax-Ukraine.
He stressed that the court did not explain its decision to the border guards.
He added that only the court that had issued the ruling can cancel it.
As reported, the State Border Service of Ukraine did not allow Vlasenko to leave the country on Thursday, January 24, in the morning.
Vlasenko planned to fly to Strasbourg to attend a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
