Tymoshenko agrees to medical procedures, video camera won't be removed from her ward, says prison chief

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has resumed medical treatment, Chief of Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv Ihor Kolpaschykov said.

"The [medical] procedures were resumed today," he told an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent on Tuesday.

Kolpaschykov denied reports that he had promised to Ukrainian opposition MPs to remove surveillance cameras from Tymoshenko's ward.

"We didn't discuss the video cameras with them. We provided Tymoshenko with a written explanation concerning the cameras, which she believes are hidden from her. There is no covert surveillance. The rest of the cameras were installed legally in compliance with Article 103 of the Penal Code," he said.

The prison chief also said that Kyiv Administrative Court confirmed the legitimacy of placing surveillance cameras in the ex-premier's ward.

MP Andriy Pavlovsky of the Batkivschyna party earlier said that the chief of the penal colony promised opposition lawmakers that video cameras would be removed from Tymoshenko's ward and only remain in place in the corridor of the hospital.
