The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has dismissed Serhiy Arbuzov from the post of governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
A total of 237 MPs supported this decision at a plenary sitting on Friday.
As reported, in December 2012, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych appointed NBU Governor Arbuzov to the post of first deputy prime minister and Head of the NBU Council Ihor Prasolov as the minister of economic development and trade.
The NBU governor is appointed and dismissed by parliament on the proposal of the Ukrainian president. The NBU head is appointed for a seven-year term.
On January 9, 2013, the president nominated acting central bank's head, Ihor Sorkin, for the post of the NBU governor.
