Pre-trial investigation reopened into state secret disclosure case against Melnychenko
The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) has cancelled an indictment in the criminal case against former State Guard Department Major Mykola Melnychenko on the disclosure of a state secret and has reopened the pretrial investigation into the case.
The PGO told Interfax-Ukraine that its investigator carried out the procedure as part of the supervision over the investigation into the case, which was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
At the same time, the PGO did not specify why the pre-trial inquiry had been resumed.
As reported, the Main Investigatory Department of the SBU on December 26, 2012 finished the pre-trial investigation into the criminal case against Melnychenko on the disclosure of a state secret and sent the indictment to the PGO. The agency also said that the ex-major and his defense lawyer had read the materials of the pre-trial investigation.
