Worker dies in Komsomolets Donbasu Mine, two more are missing
A dead body has been found in the Komsomolets Donbasu Mine, where methane exploded on Thursday morning, the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office has told Interfax-Ukraine.
Two other workers - a 42-year-old engine driver and a 32-year-old assistant section foreman - are missing.
Rock caved in on the range of 56 meters. As of 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, rescuers had passed through 20 meters.
A spontaneous discharge of methane happened in the Komsomolets Donbasu Mine at 0520 a.m. on January 3 in the conveyer entry of the second western face of the 14th bed in section 5.
Four workers happened to be within the accident zone, company DTEK reported. One of them came outside unaided. In all, there were 300 workers in the mine when the accident happened.
