The leader of the Batkivschyna United Opposition, Arseniy Yatseniuk, is convinced of the need to change the Constitution of Ukraine.
"Of course, you need to think about changing the Constitution, because we supposedly have a presidential republic, but a presidential republic provides for a balance of power, a presidential republic provides for the right of the parliament to decide on impeachment of the president. The Ukrainian parliament cannot do that," Yatseniuk said on Thursday night on TVi Channel.
Yatseniuk stressed that there is no law regulating the procedure of president's impeachment in Ukraine. The opposition insists on the adoption of such law.
He stressed that the Constitution should determine a political system of Ukraine is republic. "Today it is a closed joint stock company lead by President Yanukovych," Yatseniuk said.
