Azarov asks Ukrainians not to travel by car due to bad weather
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has advised Ukrainians to refrain from traveling by car due to the bad weather.
"The situation is dangerous to life and health. In order to prevent accidents on the roads during extreme weather conditions, if possible, please refrain from traveling by road," he said in an address posted on the government's Web site.
Azarov said that the government was always taking the necessary steps to maintain the normal life of the country.
Concerned ministries and agencies, and regional authorities were ordered to organize work to restore electricity supplies, unblock roads and, if necessary, restrict or close traffic on the roads. The Cabinet of Ministers has set up an operational headquarters, where the concerned services are working around the clock in emergency mode.
