Foreign law firm sees no political motives behind Tymoshenko conviction, says Justice Ministry
The Ukrainian Justice Ministry has claimed to have received an independent report from the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, which conducted legal analysis of the criminal case against former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko regarding the 2009 Ukrainian-Russian gas supply deal.
"The report […] shows that Yulia Tymoshenko is groundlessly claiming that the case is politically motivated and is not providing any facts that could justify the invalidation of her conviction in line with European and American standards. The report also says that Tymoshenko's behavior in the courtroom would have been unacceptable in other countries and would have likely led to a decision on contempt of court," the Justice Ministry said referring to the report.
