Law on local referendums to be adopted in 2013, says Stavniychuk
It is planned to pass the law on local referendums following the adoption of the law on national referendums, presidential adviser and Head of the Main Department for Constitutional and Legal Modernization at the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Maryna Stavniychuk has said.
"Speaking about 2013, first of all we are planning to participate in the development and promotion at the Verkhovna Rada of the bill on local referendums," Stavniychuk told journalists on Tuesday before a meeting of the coordination council for the development of civil society.
"We consider it a serious priority of our activities – for the Justice Ministry in general and for the government, and certainly for the parliament," she said.
Stavniychuk said that other bills related to local democracy would also be developed.
"This is an extremely important segment of our work," Stavniychuk said.
Stavniychuk chairs the coordination council for the development of civil society.
