Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has instructed officials and the Finance Ministry to repay wage arrears within two days and ensure the regular payment of wages in future, the media liaisons department of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers reported on Monday.
Azarov ordered the Finance Ministry, the State Treasury and the heads of regional state administrations to bear personal responsibility for the repayment of salary arrears
He said that there were funds for the repayment of salaries and that they should be used quickly and responsibly.
At the same time, government commissions were sent to the regions where the issues of the repayment of wage arrears to public sector employees were not still resolved, and they should objectively examine each case of the late payment of salaries, draw conclusions and determine what led to this, and to offer conclusions regarding the actions or inactivity of concerned officials.
