Two Ukrainians on board ship that sank near Netherlands, says Foreign Ministry
There were two Ukrainian citizens among the crewmembers of the Baltic Ace, a ship that sank near the Netherlands, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleksandr Dykusarov has said.
Ukraine's Embassy in the Netherlands learned from the coastguard authority that one Ukrainian, who was killed in the sinking, was an electrician. The man's body has been transported to Belgium.
The second Ukrainian crewmember was rescued. The ministry said he was hospitalized in Rotterdam.
The consular department of Ukraine's Embassy in the Netherlands is taking all possible measures to find out more details about the incident. The Foreign Ministry is monitoring the case under a special regime.
As reported, on the night of December 5-6 the Baltic Ace, with 24 crewmembers on board, crashed into a container vessel and sank near the Netherlands. Four people were killed and seven others are missing.
