Newly elected Batkivschyna MPs not to ask for accommodation in Kyiv

Newly elected MPs from the Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union have decided not to ask for budget-funded apartments in Kyiv, Leonid Yemets, who was elected an MP from the opposition in single-seat constituency No. 221, has said.

"I officially announce that Batjkivschyna MPs have decided not to ask for budget-funded apartments," he wrote on his page on Facebook.

As reported, the head of the current parliament's committee on the rules of procedure, Volodymyr Makeyenko, a Regions Party representative in the preparatory group on organizing the work of the new parliament, said earlier that about 180 newly elected MPs had submitted statements on their accommodation in Kyiv.

"About 180 MPs have to be accommodated. In my opinion, our hotel can accommodate only 85... It's necessary for the working group to start working and that the subgroup dealing with accommodation clearly sees and knows how many MPs [want to get housing], who exactly, and what opportunities we have," he said.

He noted that such an influx of applications from MPs "has never been seen before."
