New cabinet to be formed after premier is determined, says Yanukovych
The new government may be formed as a result of the parliamentary election, but only after the prime minister's candidacy is determined, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"When the candidacy of the prime minister of Ukraine is finally determined, the process of forming a new government will start," he told reporters in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The head of state said that he could not yet name the composition of the new government, as talks on forming a parliamentary majority were underway.
"We're holding the talks, looking for motivation to create a broad majority in the parliament. The larger the coalition in the parliament is, the better," the president said.
The parliamentary elections do not necessarily lead to the government's resignation. However, a number of ministers have won seats for the parliament this year. In addition, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov headed the election ticket of the Regions Party, which got the largest number of seats in the parliament.
