70 Ukrainians leave Gaza, one injured lightly - Palestinian ambassador
Seventy citizens of Ukraine have left Gaza because of Israeli strikes. A young Ukrainian is lightly injured, Palestinian Ambassador to Kyiv Mohammed Alasaad told a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
"About 1,000 Ukrainians are staying in Gaza now and 70 have left. We are monitoring their position and stay in touch with them. A young man was hurt but not seriously. Some 200 women wish to leave, but they want to go to Egypt, not Ukraine. The others will stay with their husbands and children in Gaza. I hope they will be all right," he said.
Some 1,800 women and 1,200 children live on the West Bank, the ambassador said. "We have contact with the Ukrainian representative to Ramallah. We are grateful to him for his assistance," he said.
"We think that Ukrainian citizens living in Gaza and the West Bank are Palestinian citizens and their security is equally important to us as the security of any other Palestinian citizen," Alasaad stressed.
