UN to present report on state of combat against corruption in Ukraine in early 2013, says Justice Ministry
A report of the United Nations on the implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption in Ukraine and the state of the combat against corruption in the country will be presented in early 2013.
This issue was discussed during a meeting of a delegation of the Ukrainian Justice Ministry lead by Deputy Justice Minister Dmytro Voronov, Head of Corruption and Economic Crime Branch of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Dimitri Vlassis, and an expert from this department, Demosthenes Chryssikos, in Vienna (Austria) on November 14-16 in the frames of the third session of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the review of the implementation of the UN Convention Against Corruption, the Justice Ministry's press service reported on Friday
The parties noted that the monitoring of Ukraine's implementation of the convention lasted three years and was completed in late October 2012. The report will include the most comprehensive and objective information on the state of affairs in this area.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to hold a joint presentation of the report in Ukraine in early 2013 with the participation of the management of the Secretariat of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption.
Ukraine signed the UN Convention against Corruption on December 9, 2003 in the city of Merida, Mexico.
