German doctors persuade Tymoshenko to stop hunger strike from Friday

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko will stop her hunger strike on Friday, according to her doctor from the Berlin-based Charité Clinic Lutz Harms.

"Starting from tomorrow, she ends her hunger strike," he told reporters in Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 on Thursday.

Another German physician Annette Reisshauer noted that the former prime minister had become very weak.

"She is very weak," the doctor said.

According to Harms, Tymoshenko's general condition is little worse than it was on May 9, when she arrived in hospital after 22 days of fasting.

The German doctors have not yet discussed with their patient her further rehabilitation.

"It has not been the subject of our conversation today. But today we have agreed with doctors that the therapeutic treatment should be continued. And we hope that Mrs. Tymoshenko also holds this view. But the general conditions here should still be improved," Harms said.
