Yanukovych supports monitoring of compliance with criminal procedure rules
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has called for the establishment of a group to monitor the observance of criminal procedure legislation.
"This monitoring team should interact closely with all law enforcement agencies, the judicial system, and the bar," Yanukovych said at a meeting with heads of law enforcement agencies in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The president stressed that the implementation of the new Criminal Procedure Code will go together with the creation of a new criminal justice system.
"[The Criminal Code's implementation] will be accompanied by the creation of a new criminal justice system," Yanukovych said.
According to him, there already exists an idea for such a system, as well as an action plan for its establishment.
