Yanukovych expects CEC to announce Rada election results this week
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has expressed the hope that that the Central Election Commission will complete the vote count and announce the official results of the elections to the Verkhovna Rada by the end of this week.
"I hope that by the end of this week, the Central Election Commission together with district election commissions will finish counting the votes and will officially announce the results of these elections," Yanukovych told reporters on Friday during a visit to Cyprus.
He noted that due to a decision to hold repeat election in five single-member constituencies, the parliament would be five lawmakers short when it starts its work.
"Therefore, the parliament will be formed, excluding five seats, that is, 445 lawmakers can start working," the president said.
The Central Election Commission must publish the official results of the parliamentary election no later than November 12.
