Kyiv, Moscow to complete talks on modernization of Russian Black Sea Fleet by end of 2012, says Ukraine's deputy defense minister
Ukraine and Russia plan to complete the talks on the modernization of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which is deployed in Sevastopol, by the end of this year, Ukraine's First Deputy Defense Minister Oleksandr Oliynyk told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"The talks are in progress," he said.
Under the agreements, which are being currently prepared, Russia will have to agree with Ukraine all issues related to the modernization of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the deputy minister said.
Both Ukrainian and Russian enterprises will be involved in upgrading the Russian Black Sea Fleet, he said. Most of the work will be conducted at Ukrainian shipyards.
According to Oliynyk, Ukraine and Russia will continue to work through the program of military-technical cooperation until 2017.
