Ukrainian elections complied with intl standards - Russian Foreign Ministry
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the Ukrainian parliamentary elections complied with international standards.
"The elections were held in a quiet atmosphere without incident, and they complied with the generally-accepted standards. The nearly three month long election campaign, filled with acute competition between the rivals, was honest and open on the whole," it said in a commentary on Tuesday.
"No serious election irregularities that could impact the outcome have been detected, which has been confirmed by numerous national and international observers, including those from Russia," it said.
"Ukraine has again confirmed its adherence to the standards of a democratic and law-based state," and this is the main result of the elections, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"Russia was closely monitoring the elections and does hope that intensive cooperation between the two countries will receive a fresh impetus after the elections," it said.
