Tiahnybok supports equal relations between Ukraine, Russia
Leader of the Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union Oleh Tiahnybok has said that Ukraine should build equal relations with Russia.
"Speaking about Russia, we should build a policy of equality, and not one according to the principle of "big brother" or "small sister" that is being imposed on us. Russia is a state that will respect only a strong partner," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday.
When asked to comment on Ukraine's possible joining the Customs Union, he said: "We think that our country should head for Europe."
According to him, Svoboda in a new parliament will start the process of denouncing the Kharkiv agreements, as well as the process of passing a law on the energy security of Ukraine.
The nationalists also want to cancel the law on the principles of the state language policy. Tiahnybok said Ukrainian citizens have a right to use any language in everyday life, but Ukrainian should be the only state language. He added that candidates for posts of state officials should pass an exam in Ukrainian.
