A new metro station, Ipodrom, opened in Kyiv on October 25, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter has said.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov.
"Today is a holiday for residents of the district – the opening of a new metro station. This is the fifth new metro station built in the last two years. Such a pace of metro construction was not seen even in Soviet times," Azarov said, while speaking at the opening of the station.
He noted that such a pace of the construction of new metro stations should be maintained, in particular, there is an initiative to link the Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska line of the Kyiv Metro with the Teremky-2 and Teremky-3 districts.
Azarov said that another metro station, Teremky, would soon open on this line.
