Some 4.7 million Ukrainians working in their own country illegally, says Tigipko
Deputy Prime Minister - Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tigipko has said that some 4.7 million Ukrainians are working illegally in Ukraine.
"Some 4.7 million Ukrainians work illegally without social protection and without contributing to social support funds, which strongly affects the social payments in the country", the deputy premier said speaking at the International Forum "Ukraine: Development Project" in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Experts estimate that one third of Ukrainians' salaries are in the shadows, Tigipko said.
According to him, a number of strict measures to rectify the situation have to be taken, in particular ones to strengthen the accountability of managers of enterprises and organizations who take on illegal employees and to reduce the unified social contribution, which puts pressure on manufacturers.
