Russian foreign minister to visit Ukraine to discuss Yanukovych's upcoming visit to Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Kyiv on October 19 to discuss the Russian Black Sea Fleet affairs, the Transdniestrian settlement, and the upcoming visit of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to Moscow.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told journalists that Lavrov will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Kostiantyn Hryschenko on Friday.

"The key aim of the visit is to organize a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, who is to make a working trip to Russia on October 22," the diplomat said.

According to him, "during the visit, the Russian minister is planning to discuss cooperation between Ukraine and Russia on important international affairs, particularly the Transdniestrian settlement."

"The problem of expanding the legal basis of the location of Russian Black Sea Fleet on the territory of Ukraine will be an important issue on the agenda of the talks," Lukashevich said.
