Yanukovych asks clergy not to intrude in election process
The church should not intrude in the election processes, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"I know that there is a human factor, and you cannot order priests to support someone, or not," the president said at a meeting with the clergy and religious organization on Wednesday.
He also asked the heads of religious organizations not to intrude in the election process publicly.
"We should agree that you will not do this in public, the church should not intrude in this political process, because this may split the society, and this should not happen," Yanukovych said.
The parliamentary elections in Ukraine will be held on October 28, 2012.
