Court to continue hearing UESU debt case on October 22
Kyiv's Economic Court of Appeals will continue considering appeals against a decision by Kyiv's Economic Court on the payment by the Ukrainian government to the Russian Defense Ministry of over UAH 3.1 billion (about $390 million) of the debt of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation at 0915 on October 22.
An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that a break in the court hearing had been announced by Presiding Judge Viktor Shapran for the further study of the case materials.
The court rejected the petitions lodged by UESU representative Oleksandr Kovalchuk regarding the need to request a number of documents from the Ukrainian and Russian finance ministries and the Russian Defense Ministry.
Kovalchuk said that a statement regarding the closure of the case due in view of the statute of limitations, as well as a statement recognizing evidence in the case as unacceptable, would be considered by the court while making a decision.
