A monument in the form of a two-meter long hand with an engraved logo of Apple Inc., in honor of its founder Steve Jobs, was unveiled in Odesa on Friday.
According to a correspondent of Interfax-Ukraine, the monument is made of various components: gears, bolts, pistons etc. The monument was set up near the hostel of Odesa State Academy of Technical Regulation and Quality, at 74/76 Novoselskogo Street.
About hundred of students attended the ceremony, many of them holding portraits of Jobs.
The creator of the monument, Kyrylo Maksymenko, said that he called his work "Thank you, Steve!" According to him, he started to work on the monument at the beginning of November 2011 and used over 300 kilograms of metal parts in it.
Moreover, the organizers stressed that monument in Odesa is the first one set up in honor of Jobs in the CIS.
As reported, in July Odesa mayor's office supported the initiative of the students to set up a memorial sculpture in honor of the founder and board chairman of Apple.
U.S. businessman Steve Jobs died of cancer on October 5, 2011, at the age of 56.
