Azarov vows to restore prestige of teaching profession
The government will do everything it can to restore the prestige of the teaching profession, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"I strongly believe that highly educated teachers that master advanced teaching methods are the basis of the state's future. We are happy to have such teachers in our country," he said at a meeting with education sphere workers to mark Teacher's Day in Kyiv on Friday.
"Every country's education level is a barometer of its importance and intellectual potential. With full responsibility, I would like to say that the sphere of education was and will remain a priority for our government," Azarov said.
The premier congratulated teachers on the upcoming professional holiday and presented 62 teachers with professional achievement awards.
