Ambassador: Ukrainians soon to be able to get visas to United States for ten years

Ukraine and the United States are completing negotiations on the introduction of ten-year U.S. visas for Ukrainians, and Washington is conducting respective domestic procedures, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oleksandr Motsyk has said.

"We have been holding the respective talks with the U.S. side for two years. We agreed that the Ukrainian side had to meet certain conditions, and we have currently met these conditions. This has been recognized by the U.S. side," he told Radio Liberty.

He said that the internal coordination of the procedure was currently expected between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Motsyk said that ten-year visas would effectively mean a visa free regime.

After the procedure is agreed, Ukrainian citizens will be able to receive ten-year visas to the United States, he added.

The conditions met by Ukraine concern consular and security issues, the diplomat said.
