Preparations for ratification of Ukraine-EU Association Agreement continue, says Yanukovych
Ukraine is continuing to prepare for the ratification of the Association Agreement with the European Union, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.
"We have done a lot of work in this direction – a very serious strategic document, the agreement on association and creation of a free trade area, has been developed. Work on the issue continues, and further actions are to be carried out soon," the president said at a meeting with the participants of the 11th conference of the heads of Ukraine's missions abroad in Kyiv on Wednesday.
He specified that he meant first of all the ratification and "other political steps in this direction."
Yanukovych said Ukrainian legislation should be brought in line with the European legislation in order to bring Ukraine closer to European standards.
"We're doing this for Ukraine, and not for anybody else. We are doing this for ourselves," the heads of state said.
