Unit 5 of Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant shut down for routine maintenance
Unit No. 5 of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant was disconnected from the power grid at 0010 on October 1, 2012 for routine maintenance, the plant's information center reported on Monday.
The maintenance work will last until November 20, 2012.
The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant was is among the largest nuclear plants in Europe. Its six VVER-1000 power units were built according to the Soviet project V-320. The first unit was put in operation in December 1984 and the sixth was put in operation in October 1995.
