Russia preparing mass-casualty event for Jan 7 - FIS

The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine (FIS) warns of the continuation of the Kremlin's special operation to disrupt peace talks mediated by the United States.

"This operation is of a complex nature. After the so-called attack on Putin's residence, we record the Kremlin's dissemination of new falsified information pretexts to prepare the Russian and foreign audience for further escalation," FIS said on Telegram on Friday.

The FIS notes that a transition from manipulative influence to armed provocation by the Russian special services with significant human casualties is predicted with high probability.

"The expected time is on the eve or during the celebration of Christmas according to the Julian calendar (January 7). A religious building or other object with high symbolic significance may be chosen as the place of provocation, both in Russia and in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine," the message said.

As noted, to falsify evidence of Ukraine's involvement, it is planned to use fragments of Western-made strike UAVs, which will be delivered to the place of provocation from the front line.

"The exploitation of fear and the commission of terrorist acts with human victims under a "foreign flag" fully correspond to the style of work of Russian special services. Putin's regime has repeatedly used this tactic inside the Russian Federation, and now this same model is being exported abroad, which is indirectly confirmed by public statements by senior Russian officials," the report notes.

The FIS appeals to the media to question and carefully check the materials published by the Kremlin and not to spread Russian fakes.
