Ukrainian govt asks regulators to hold off on raising water prices
Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has appealed to the National Commission for Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) to postpone the planned tariff changes for water for the population, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has said.
"Water tariffs for people should remain unchanged. The government has appealed to the NEURC to postpone the planned tariff changes. Our position is clear: in times of war, people should not feel additional financial pressure," Svyrydenko wrote in the Telegram channel.
At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that the authorities must find a joint solution that balances the interests of consumers and the needs of service providers, water utilities, which should not lose money and go into debt.
"The next step is for the government, together with the NEURC, to work out a joint solution," Svyrydenko said.
