Zelenskyy: Overall goal for future of Ukrainian combat aviation is fleet of 250 aircraft
Ukraine is conducting three parallel negotiations with Sweden, France, and the United States regarding aircraft deliveries. The overall request for the future of Ukrainian combat aviation is a fleet of 250 new aircraft, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.
"That is, I'm conducting three parallel discussions about aircraft: with the Swedes, the French, and the Americans. The overall requirement for the future of our combat aviation is a fleet of 250 new aircraft," Zelenskyy said during his conversation with reporters.
According to the president, Ukraine has reached an agreement with Sweden that the countries will sign a treaty, and Ukraine will have 150 new Gripens.
"Of course, this is quite a long road. But it's a very good option. The Gripens will come fully armed. The main issue is that we have agreed on the localization of the Gripens. I believe this is a historic agreement," he added.
