US Treasury Secretary: Europe should take lead on increased G7 economic pressure against Russia
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent insists that European countries "take the lead on increased G7 economic pressure against Russia." He wrote about this on a social network following talks with EU Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis.
"During my talks with European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, I underscored America’s commitment to a lasting, durable peace in Ukraine, and the need for Europe to take the lead on increased G7 economic pressure against Russia," he wrote on the social network X on Tuesday.
He also "highlighted the need for a unified global response to China’s reckless imposition of export controls, and the importance of diversified supply chains."
The G7 is an informal international club that brings together the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Japan and the United States.
