Ukraine hits Russian vessel in Sea of Azov carrying cruise missiles
On August 28, special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) hit a Russian small Buyan class vessel capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles, GUR's press service has said.
"On August 28, 2025, as a result of a joint operation of the Department of Active Operations in the Sea of Azov near the temporarily occupied Crimea, a small missile ship, Buyan-M - a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles, was hit. GUR agents damaged the ship's radar with an air drone strike, and special forces attacked the ship," the intelligence agency said on Telegram on Thursday.
The Russian missile ship, which was in the area of potential launch of Kalibr missiles was damaged and forced to leave the combat duty area, according to GUR, which provided a video of the incident.
