Canada, EU promise to increase sanctions pressure on Russia
The European Union and Canada will continue to impose sanctions against Russia until it stops the war in Ukraine.
“We will increase pressure on Russia, including through further sanctions and taking measures to prevent their circumvention, and by ensuring that Russian sovereign assets remain immobilized until Russia ceases its war of aggression against Ukraine and compensates it for the damage caused by this war,” the joint statement notes.
“We are committed to ensuring full accountability for war crimes and other serious crimes committed in connection with Russia’s war of aggression,” the statement notes.
“We also remain committed to supporting Ukraine’s repair, recovery and reconstruction including through the Ukraine Donor Platform and in-country coordination mechanisms,” the statement notes.
