Ukraine not to agree to Constitutional amendments – Poroshenko
Ukraine will not agree to changes to the Basic Law, leader of the European Solidarity party Petro Poroshenko is confident.
"I want to reassure you, there will be no changes to the Constitution. Including regarding the list of regions, ... the European Union of future membership and regarding NATO," Poroshenko said in an interview with journalist Vitaliy Portnykov on the Espresso TV channel.
Answering the question of whether the Americans can pressure Ukraine regarding changes to the Constitution, in part to reject NATO, Poroshenko said: "They can offer us, and we must be sufficiently reasoned to say that such changes weaken the position not only of Ukraine, they weaken the position not only of Europe and destroy the security architecture of the continent, but they also weaken the United States and its global leadership in the world as a reliable partner."
