Political experts predict that Trump won’t talk to Putin on March 18

Political expert Kostiantyn Matvienko believes that the conversation between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin planned for Tuesday may not take place.

"I don't think that Trump will talk to Putin tomorrow," Matvienko said at a discussion entitled "Is the war ending" at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Monday.

The event was also attended by political expert, co-founder of the National Platform for Resilience and Cohesion Oleh Saakyan and journalist Oleksiy Kibkalo.

Kibkalo suggested that a conversation between Trump and Putin could take place, but "it would be a conversation about Ukraine without Ukraine." "We should turn on the ignore button, or demand that we be fully informed about the course of their conversation," he said.

According to political experts, if the telephone conversation takes place, it will not have much significance.

"If the conversation takes place, I also leave the possibility that it will not take place, then, really, it will not have much significance. What he will agree or not agree on regarding the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, how it will take place - this, in general, could be a conversation on one side," said Saakyan.

Trump reportedly said he planned to speak with Putin on Tuesday to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. The Kremlin also confirmed information about a possible conversation between Trump and Putin on Tuesday.
