Ukraine must be strong in the negotiations, for this we need unity around the AFU - Poroshenko

The leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, has called on everyone to unite around the interests of defence of the state during a speech from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.

He noted that the complex geopolitical situation requires the creation of a coalition of national unity and maximum support for the AFU.

The ‘European Solidarity’ faction suspended the blocking of parliament, giving the opportunity to vote European laws, laws for the IMF programme and support for the army, including PIT, with an increase in the military budget, including the protection of servicemen and the establishment of end-of-service terms, Poroshenko said.

‘Our principled position is that Ukraine must be strong in the negotiations. And Ukraine's strength will be ensured by unity - external and internal. For that we need to immediately overcome the parliamentary crisis, which was caused by illegal, unconstitutional decisions to persecute the opposition. And today we are taking a decisive step. The European Solidarity faction suspends the blocking of the parliament, giving the opportunity to vote on European laws, to vote on laws for the IMF programme, laws primarily on support for the army including the personal income tax, including an increase in the military budget, including the protection of military personnel and the establishment of service deadlines,’ Poroshenko said.

He stressed that he hoped for the formation of a coalition of national unity and a government of national unity.
