EU ambassadors agree on 16th package of sanctions against Russia to be adopted by EU Council on Monday
Ambassadors of the European Union member states have agreed on the 16th package of sanctions against Russia, which will be finally adopted at the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday.
A high-ranking European diplomat reported this to the Interfax-Ukraine agency in Brussels on Wednesday. “The 16th package of sanctions just adopted by the COREPER [Permanent Representatives Committee] will be adopted by ministers on Monday at the foreign affairs council, on the day of the 3rd anniversary [since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine],” he said.
At the same time, the diplomat noted that “the signal on the EU side is clear: the line remains the same.” “We keep supporting Ukraine and we keep sanctioning the Russian aggressor, because this is the right thing to do, preserving international rules and order, defending sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he stressed.
