Ukraine shares the call of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the reform of key international institutions, in particular the UN Security Council (UNSC), in order to increase their effectiveness and ability to solve global crises.

This is stated in the comment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the PACE Resolution "The need for a renewed rules-based international order," posted on the ministry's website on Tuesday.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the adoption of the resolution by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which confirms the commitment of the European community to the principles of the international rule-based legal order and its readiness to face the challenges of our time. Strict observance of the UN Charter and the norms of international law is imperative for the peaceful coexistence of states," the Foreign Ministry said in an official comment.

It is noted that the resolution is a significant step towards strengthening international cooperation and ensuring peace and security in the world. "Ukraine shares the call for the reform of key international institutions, in particular the UN Security Council, in order to make them more representative and effective in solving global crises," the comment says.

"The urgent need to counter the threats of authoritarianism, unilateral actions and aggression that undermine the foundations of democracy and the rule of law requires the joint efforts of the entire democratic world," the document emphasizes.

"Ukraine remains committed to cooperating with international partners to implement the recommendations set out in the resolution, in particular on strengthening the security mechanisms of Europe and the world. Ukraine stands in solidarity with the member states of the Council of Europe in striving for a future based on just peace," the Foreign Ministry concluded.
